Want to feel all of your joy slip away in a single moment? Measure your waist in FEET instead of INCHES.
Ok SO today I *finally* measured my whole body. And boy… I’ve got some WORK to do guys. Thankfully I seem to be having a ‘good day’ mentally and emotionally and despite what I just learned- I’m not feeling like curling into a ball and avoiding the world. At least not at this specific moment.
First off- here are my latest photos. I should’ve taken some this morning but never got to it- so you’re getting these from this past Friday. Don’t worry- I’ve not changed much in the past 3 days lol.
Even as big as I am- for whatever reason I tend to carry my weight super close to my bones. Which makes me look a little smaller than I am. Not that I’m small- oh no; no one seeing me walking down the street would be like ‘look at that little thing’. I’m absolutely an obese woman. But in those phots I’m wearing my loosest workout clothes, so that’s really what my body looks like- it’d only be more accurate if I posed naked. I’m not doing that. (the waist band is tucking me in a little; but not much)
OK let’s post these stats.

I’m measuring a LOT of things- but that is just because I want to be able to see when something changes. I’m only going to be measuring once a month- because I just don’t want the stress of doing it weekly, and I’m not crazy enough to do it daily. I made a quick google sheet tracker- if anyone wants a copy here it is: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Rgtr-ISEXzKUJeb8WRh_XTeKDBQ3MKm3MSP0CkeSJng/edit?usp=sharing You’ll have to make your own copy to actually type on it.
SO when calculating my Body Fat % I used THIS Calculator. And for whatever reason the person that programmed it decided to have ALL of the input fields for each measurement- a feet box and a inches box. Somehow while 51 inches around my waist does sound bad- and huge… calculating it to feet and seeing that my waist is 4’3″ is kind of a punch to the face. Probably because feet is easier to conceptualize- for instance… I’m pretty sure my 9 year old is 4’3″…. she might be taller but the point is… THAT WAS AN EASY VISUAL considering I USED to be a person with a cute little 26″ waist or 2’2″…. anyway not pleasant. Although it does once again prove that I AM twice the woman I once was.
SO what- now I have all these numbers; ask many of my contacts on facebook they’re just gonna say ‘the numbers don’t define you- they cannot see your personality…’ and blah blah blah. I will be honest, while I get what all of those fluffy posts are saying- they annoy the heck out of me. These numbers DO mean quite a lot actually- and I know that- and considering the people that visit my blog and follow me- you know that as well. SO I’m not going to go on the rant about that -today- I probably will later. We’ll see.
How am I going to use the numbers? Well I’m going to make some quick goals. By Oct 27th I want to have lost at least 1 inch off of my wait and hips- specifically. I have no idea how much weight that correlates to; so for now I’ll leave the weight goal as a more general goal- I want to weigh less.
My plan- I’ve started working on the iFit subscription that my indoor bike pairs with. The program I jumped into today is the Couch to 40K. I did the first workout today- and I plan on doing it again tomorrow. I said this on my IG account, but I’ll repeat it. The first workout is supposed to be 5.42 miles, I only biked 3.26 during the workout. So I want to get up to the distance of the first session before I move on. The good news is I’m only about 2 and a quarter mile off from the distance covered in the first video. It’s just getting up to speed at this point.
I also bought myself a marching band color guard flag. Because I loved color guard back in the day- and I miss doing it. So I’ll be working out with that. Who knows maybe I’ll be confident enough to film a dance and put it on the social medias LOL we’ll see. Right now I just needed a workout that brings me joy- and twirling and tossing that flag around brings me SO much joy.
Well that is my check in 😀
Nikkie
